Plantaire ™ Sustainable Air Filtration
Developed in 1997 by Swedish scientist Dr. Lars Thofelt, the Plantaire system uses plants to filter the air and renew oxygen in any indoor environment. It works by circulating airflow through a chamber filled with pollution absorbing-plants and a specially mix growing media, which together reduce the volume of particles carrying bacteria, other airborne contaminates and chemical gasses.

Plantaire effectively purifies re-circulated air, affording buildings the ability to reduce the amount of outside air exchange needed and less energy to heat or cool incoming air.
A standard Plantaire unit purifies approximately 120 cubic meters ( feet) of air per an hour, reducing the level of airborne particles with a diameter of > 1 mm by between 50 - 70%. It dramatically lowers the amount of dust, bacteria, chemicals, and mold spores from the circulated air.
The lighting of Plantaire™ is as natural as sunlight and extraordinarily energy efficient. In fact the Swedish use these same lights to treat people for depression and vitamin E deficiency.
The Plantaire™ is silent. The squirrel fans which circulate the air operate without producing any noise.
A standard Plantaire™ is the equivalent of a small humidifier. It introduces around 0.4 liters of water per hour. The outgoing air in the Plantaire is regulated to a maximum humidity of 40%.
